Angelique serves as SMD, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel at Ziegler, a Chicago headquartered investment bank.  In her role at Ziegler Angelique is responsible for all legal and regulatory affairs, ethics and compliance programs, as well as all corporate governance, human capital and IT activities. She is also responsible for managing the corporate secretary function and working with the Board of Directors and senior management across a number of areas, including governance and corporate development.  Angelique is a member of Ziegler’s Executive Committee, Operating Committee and Business Acceptance Committee.  She also serves as chair of Ziegler’s Ethics Committee.

Angelique is a recognized leader in the securities industry and frequently speaks on various securities topics. She was named as one of Chicago United’s 2015 Business Leaders of Color and has also been featured in Modern Counsel magazine. Angelique serves on the Executive Committee of Board of Directors of the Bond Dealers of America, and co-chairs its Legal and Compliance Committee. Angelique has also held positions on the Board of Directors of the Midwest Minority In-House Counsel Group, the Board of Directors of The Cathedral Shelter and the Board of Directors of the Public Interest Law Initiative. Additionally, Angelique has also served as a guest editor of Modern Counsel magazine and a contributing writer and member of the Advisory Board for the magazine, Girlfriends Health Guide for Women of Color.

Angelique is also a motivational speaker focused on the topics of “Being your Best You,” “Breaking Glass Ceilings,” and “Success.”

Angelique obtained her B.A. from Case Western Reserve University magna cum laude and her J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law.

Angelique has been married for 11 years and she is the proud mother of two daughters, ages 7 and 10.

 

Sherell Fuller, Director

Sherell has spent her professional career in business development and marketing mostly for fortune 500 companies. Currently, Sherell Fuller is the Director of Strategic Alliances for ChicagoMSDC. In her role at ChicagoMSDC, Sherell is accountable for the growth strategies, communications and implementation for partnerships and software services initiatives. Sherell has helped organizations achieve revenue and profitable growth by building cooperative working relationships, and removing barriers to accelerate the organizations mission, vision and revenue objectives.

Sherell is also a Managing Partner for CulturQ,a full service marketing and cost reduction software firm. Sherell was most recently elected as the first African American to serve on Downers Grove District 99 school board.

Sherell obtained her BS in Business Administration from Eastern Illinois University and her Masters of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Roosevelt University.

 

Raquel Farmer-Hinton, Ph.D., Director
Professor, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

 

Raised and educated in East St. Louis, Illinois, Raquel is a scholar of urban education. She directs and publishes educational research, particularly research on the college preparation of African American students. Raquel has been a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) for 15 years. At UWM, her professional duties and college courses focus on urban communities and remedying educational inequalities. Raquel’s community and professional service activities complement her scholarly interests because she organizes mentoring and college knowledge programs for African American teens. She also serves as a leader in educational and research organizations.

Raquel received her B.S. in Psychology, and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (Alpha Nu Chapter).

Raquel previously held positions as a Spencer Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Chicago, a postdoctoral research fellow at the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, New Jersey, and a research associate at Westat in Rockville, Maryland.

Raquel has been married for 17 years and she is the proud mother of two daughters, ages 5 and 10.

 

Cerise Akins, Director
Regulatory Affairs Specialist, Flavorchem Corporation

 

Cerise has worked for over 17 years at Flavorchem Corporation located in Downers Grove, IL.  Her current role is as a regulatory affairs specialist.  As a regulatory affairs specialist, she works with all departments in the company to ensure quality flavors and fragrances are produced.  Her job involves working with several government agencies and making sure all formulas comply with current regulations.  She has had an integral role in implementing new software programs which have increased the company’s efficiency.  She is a former member of the green committee and profit sharing committee at Flavorchem Corporation.  She is currently a member of the internal inspection team that performs monthly quality inspections.

Cerise is an advocate for giving back to the community.  She has been a mentor at Main Baptist Church in Aurora, IL and currently works with young people at DuPage AME Church in Lisle, IL.  At DuPage AME Church, she works annually on the Thanksgiving basket distribution and Angel Tree Christmas gift giveaway.

Cerise is a graduate from Xavier University of Louisiana with a BS in Biology.  She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
